LARITA FAYE HANNEMAN ANDIS, FORT COLLINS, COLORADO

LaRita Faye Hanneman Andis, born on Oct. 21, 1935, was 76 years old at the time of her death on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012. She was currently living in Fort Collins, Colo.

LaRita was raised on a farm in Colfax, Iowa, by her parents Robert and Colleen White and was the youngest of the five children. Later the family moved into town where LaRita attended high school and was involved in the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (IORG), which taught her leadership training through community service. She attended Radiology Technician School in Denver, Colo., became certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and subsequently passed boards in the state of California. She did her internship and worked as a Radiology Technician in Long beach, Calif., for a number of years. She then moved to Sacramento, Calif., to work for Virgil R. Airola, MD and William P. Duffy, MD at their orthopedic practice. In Sacramento she purchased her own house where she raised her son, William H Hanneman. LaRita was a woman ahead of her time who was fiercely independent and self-assured who supported herself and her son throughout her life. After retirement she lived in Roseville, Calif., for a few years before moving out to Fort Collins, Colo., to be closer to her son and his family.

LaRita always enjoyed reading and had an innate talent for recognizing color and fashion. Additionally, she enjoyed Asian culture and used this as a theme in her garden as well as her home. Three words that would epitomize LaRita’s life would be determination, love and independence.

LaRita is survived by her son, William H. Hanneman and his spouse, Marie E. Legare who reside in Fort Collins, Colo., with their daughter, Joanna Marie Hanneman. Additionally she is survived by her sister, Floss Rexroat (Pocatello, Idaho) and her brother Jess White (Urbandale, Iowa).

As per LaRita’s wishes, there will be a small personal service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Crossroads Safe House, Fort Collins, Colo., for domestic violence.

Transcriber's note: Mrs. Andis was the daughter of Robert & Coleen White who were former Macksburg, Iowa, residents and are buried in the Moon Cemetery in Madison County, Iowa.
