LOUISA J. BIXLER

Louisa J., daughter of Garrett and Cynthia Van Rossum was born near Truro, Oct. 11, 1875, and died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Ella Thompson, May 18, 1919, aged 43 years, 7 months and two days.

She grew to young womanhood in this community and for several years attended the Banner school near her home. Later she went to school in New Virginia and after finishing her education in DeSoto taught school for nine years.

She was united in marriage to C. C. Bixler Oct. 24, 1900. To this union was born two sons, George W. aged 15 and Philip aged 12. Their present home is in Hugo, Colorado.

Eight weeks ago she went to a sanitarium in Savannah, Mo., for treatment. A week ago she came to her sisters home where she hoped to build up her strength before returning to her home. Through all her suffering she remained cheerful and was patient through all her suffering. For several hours before death came she spoke of a weight around her but just before the end she remarked “Oh, its all light and sunshine now and I feel so happy.” In her girlhood days she united with the Methodist church in New Virginia and wherever she was she was a faithful worker in church and Sunday school.

Those left to mourn her death are her husband and two sons, an aged mother, one brother and two sisters all of whom are present except her youngest son who was unable to come on account of sickness. Besides those most dear to her she leaves many friends in this and other localities in which she has resided. After her arrival here everything possible was done for her comfort and the untiring assistance and kindness of the neighbors will ever be appreciated by those left behind.

Transcriber's note: Burial was at St. Charles cemetery
