Earlham - RALPH KING

A very serious affair occurred last Tuesday evening, when Ralph King, a tenant on the George Fry farm north of Earlham, was instantly killed by his clothing catching on a gasoline engine with which he was grinding feed. No one saw the accident but the results point to the following solution of the accident. In leaning across the fly wheel to shut off the oil feed his clothing caught on the fly wheel, thus throwing him, striking his head against the axle of the engine truck. It is thought he was killed instantly, although he must have struck the axle many times.

His body was brought to the undertaking parlors that same evening, where it remained until it was taken back to his old home at Fairfield, Ill., Thursday evening. A short private funeral service was held at the undertaking parlors Thursday afternoon. A brother of the deceased came for the body.

The wife expects to leave for Illinois in a short time. She has the sympathy of the community in the loss of her husband.

Note: Ralph is buried at the Brown Cemetery, Mt. Erie, Wayne County, Illinois.
