SUSANNAH BOSSLER LIKENS

Susannah Bossler Likens was born May 18, 1830, near Williamsburg, Blair county, Pennsylvania,where she lived until grown. She was married to Levi Likens Dec 5, 1850. In the year 1854 they moved to Davenport, where they resided until 1869, moving to Brunswick, Missouri where they lived until the death of her husband, March 29, 1902. The same spring she removed to Truro, Iowa, where she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Rankin.

There were born to this union seven children, all of them survive but two, William Watson dying in infancy and Laura Stevens, dying January 30, 1917. The remaining ones are Andy, of Oakland, California, Angeline, Wellston, Oklahoma, Alverda and John Wesley, of Truro and Lulu Peek of Wellston, Oklahoma.

She passed away very peacefully at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rankin, January 1, 1919, at the age of 88 years, 7 months, 13 days. She lived a very devoted Christian life, first uniting with the Lutheran church in Pennsylvania, but afterward joining the M. E. church of which she was a member for 68 years, being a member of Truro M. E. church at the time of her death.
