A. M. WHEELER
J. W. Wheeler received word last week that his father, A. M. Wheeler, who lived at Riverside, Calif., had passed away Feb. 19th. Mr. Wheeler was one of the early settlers here.

Page 1, Column 6A. M. Wheeler was born at Maritta, Ohio, January 30, 1833. Removed with his parents to Warren county, Iowa in 1853. Was married to Harriet Meekins, in October 1854.
In the summer of 1868, this couple with their family located on a farm in Madison county near St. Charles, where they lived for a number of years before moving to Winterset.
In October 1899, Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler with his wife and youngest daughter, Nellie, left for California, choosing Riverside for their home. Mrs. Wheeler passed away fifteen years ago, since which time her aged companion has made his home with a daughter, Nellie, who with her family gave him most tender loving care.
During the last month of his life, he was unable to sit up except for a short time, but was taken to the dinner table on January 30, for the last time when his 86th birthday was celebrated. He died on February 22nd.
Of the nine children living, seven were at his bedside at times during his last illness. They are: Mrs. Cal Ogburn and Mrs. Elizabeth Eads, of Los Angeles, Mrs. Mae Hightower of Whittier, Mrs. D. W. Capper, Mrs. Munita Fox, Mrs. W. S. Munn and O. B. Wheeler, all residing in Riverside, two sons J. W. and A. P. live in Iowa.
Deceased had been for more than sixty years a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. John T. Stivers.
