November 1994DeSoto, Kan.—A funeral for Howard “Dutch” Hougham, 73, of DeSoto, Kan. will be held Nov. 18, 1994 at the Church of Christ in Earlham with military graveside services at Earlham Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday after 2 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home in Adel. Mr. Hougham died of cancer on Nov. 15 at Crystal Park Care Center at Olathe, Kan.
The son of Gerry and Helen (Stanley) Hougham, he was born Dec. 4, 1920 at Earlham. A World War II Navy pilot, he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with three stars, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific with two stars, Victory Medal, Occupational Medal and Reserve Medal.
He retired after 37 years of government service for the Navy, Naval Reserve, U.S. Postal Service and the Federal Aviation Administration. From 1948 until 1958, he had been a rural mail carrier at Earlham.
Mr. Hougham was a member of the Masonic Lodge of DeSoto, Kan., Scottish Rites of Lawrence, Kan., VFW Post 6654, Air Traffic Controller Association and a member of the Christian Church in Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.
He is survived by his wife Lillian; one daughter, Pamela Jenks of St. Louis, Mo.; three (rest of obituary is missing)
