St. Charles—(Special)—
Joseph K. Nickle, 70, passed away at his home in St. Charles January 28, after a long period of ill health. Three years ago he was stricken with total blindness and his health began failing soon after.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Cox of St. Charles and Mrs. Ruth Debord, and one grandson, Earl Debord both of Garner. He also had two brothers, C. M. Nickle of Caldwell, Idaho and R. G. Nickle of Des Moines, and one sister, Mrs. Ida Steel of Laurens, Iowa.
Mr. Nickle was a member of the Methodist church and of the Masonic order here. His funeral services were conducted on Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church by Rev. Patterson, assisted by Rev. Carnahan of the United Presbyterian church and the Masonic eulogy was given by Henry Davis of Winterset. Burial was in the St. Charles cemetery.

Joseph K. Nickle died at his home in St. Charles last Thursday evening, after an illness of a week. He had been totally blind or three years. Mr. Nickle was born in St. Charles January 4, 1867, and died January 28, 1937 at the age of 70 years and 24 days. He was married to Miss Dora McDaniel December 24, 1888.
With the exception of two years residence near Norwalk, he has lived in the vicinity of St. Charles. He became a member of the Methodist church at the age of 21, and for many years served as a trustee and steward. He was a member of Model Lodge No. 315 A. F. & A. M. since 1915, serving one year as worshipful master.
He is survived by his widow and two daughters, Mrs. E. E. Cox of St. Charles, and Mrs. Claude Debord, one sister, Mrs. Ida Steele of Laurens, and two brothers, C. M. Nickle of Caldwell, Idaho, and R. G. Nickle of Des Moines.
Services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Elmer Patterson, assisted by Rev. G. E. Carnahan of the United Presbyterian church. Masonic services were given by Henry L. Davis of Winterset. Interment was made in the St. Charles Cemetery.
