Rachel Mariah Pace was born in Warren County, Indiana, February 16, l840; moved to Iowa with her father, Jesse Doan, in 1854; she united with the M.E. Church in 1856; was married to Wm. Pace, July 1, 1858.

She was the mother of nine children; seven boys and two girls, eight of which survive her; one boy having died in infancy.

She died August 19, l891, at the age of 51 years, 6 months and 3 days. She had been a sufferer from cancer for many months.

Her body was buried in the cemetery near the Dunkard Church.

Funeral services conducted by E. Tillotson, August 21, 1891.
