JAMES SIMPSON OF ST. CHARLES DIED

St. Charles—(Special)—James Simpson, long-time resident of this community, died at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines Wednesday following an operation for kidney trouble. He was 70 years old.

Mr. Simpson had been in failing health for the past two years and had been in the Des Moines hospital for five weeks.

News of Interest from St. Charles

J. W. Simpson, 70, who had been in the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines for the past five weeks, passed away Wednesday morning. He had undergone an operation from which he failed to recover, and death came a few days later.

He is survived by two daughters, Ethel and Grace both at home, one brother, Sam Simpson of Des Moines and one sister, Mrs. James McKinney of near St. Charles and other relatives and friends.

His funeral services was conducted by Rev. Patterson, at the Methodist church on Friday afternoon with burial in the St. Charles cemetery, beside his wife who passed away about ten years ago.

James W. Simpson died in the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines January 20. Funeral services were held Friday at the Methodist church in St. Charles, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. E. L. Patterson, and interment made in the St. Charles cemetery.

Mr. Simpson was born November 12, 1866 in Illinois and came with his parents, John and Mary Simpson, to Madison county when four years old. He was married in 1894 to Miss Ellen Black who died in 1928.

He is survived by two daughters, Ethel and Grace, who are at home, and one sister, Mrs. James McKinney of South township.

Mr. Simpson had been a member of Model Lodge No. 315 A. F. & A. M. since 1909.
