Catherine McGuire was born near Indianapolis, Ind., June 30, 1846. She departed this life May 16, 1918, age 71 years, 10 months and 16 days.
When 18 years of age, her parents moved on a farm near Prairie Grove, Clarke county, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Charles R. Garrett on March 17, 1867. To this union was born eight children, five girls and three boys. Three of these children have preceded her to the beyond. Her husband also has departed this life, having passed away on Jan. 15, 1911. With her husband and family she moved to Macksburg, Nov. 24, 1893, where she remained until the time of her death.
In early life she gave her life to God and has lived a faithful life ever since. During the last three years, she has been a constant, but patient sufferer. She leaves five children, one sister and a host of friends to mourn her loss. The children are: Mrs. Laura Iiams of Macksburg, Wesley Garrett of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Flora Barker of Winterset, Chas. Garrett of Lorimor, and Harlie Garrett of St. Charles.
Many more things might be said of this one, who has passed away, but the best of all is the memory of a true mother and friend.
