Under the pastorate of Dr. C. T. McCaughn and while yet a young man, Mr. McDonald became a member of the United Presbyterian church. On April 18, 1866 he married Amanda C. On Dec. 13, 1887, he married Elizabeth A. McCullough, her death occurring April 11, 1906.

Eighteen years ago he moved from his farm in Jefferson township to Winterset where he has resided until his death May 14, 1918. His marriage to Mrs. Martha Armstrong took place Dec. 18, 1906, and she survives him.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the United Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Wilson of Indianola, who during a pastorate at North Branch, lived in the McDonald home. Assisting him was Rev. C. E. Hawthorne of Pitzer.
