JOHN GAMBLE

John Gamble was born near Jacksonville, Indiana county, Pennsylvania, Nov. 10, 1841. Moved to Iowa in early life. He was married to Miss Harriet W. Eyerly, June 18, 1872, and to this union were born six children, of whom three sons and one daughter survive: John L., who still resides in Iowa, William B. whose home is in Missouri; Michael E., the youngest son, whose home is in Apache, Okla., and Emma L., the daughter, who has remained at home and helped her mother through her father's sickness.

Deceased joined the United Presbyterian church when about 25 years old and served the church as one of its honored ruling elders during his active Christian life. He has been a great sufferer for many years but with it all he never lost faith in God and was submissive and patient to the end. He was a loving father, a kind and affectionate husband and a true Christian.

Deceased departed this life Feb. 14th, 1918 at his home in Apache, Okla. The funeral was held from the Presbyterian church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. S. L. Hogan.

A life has gone from the care of loving hands on earth and a home is sad and lonesome but a loving tender Father has only reached down with Almighty hands to lift that life from the storms of earth to the home of eternal rest and we expect to meet him some sweet day, for “He's not dead, he's just away.
