Funeral services for W. H. Black were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Barker.
He is survived by two sons, B. F. Black of Des Moines and Grover C. Black of Norwalk, California, two grandsons, three brothers: J. R. Black, Alec and Frank, one sister, Mrs. Ann Collins all of St. Charles and another sister Mrs. Nettie Steel of Kansas. He was one of a family of eleven children, five sisters having preceded him in death.
The pall bearers were all nephews, Gary Black, Ben Bradshaw, Fred Black, Frank Shutt, Wilkie Collins and George Black. Burial was in the St. Charles cemetery.

William H. Black, and old pioneer of South township, died at the home of J. W. Simpson Saturday morning. Mr. Black was 79 years of age November 11.
After he left the farm several years ago he lived alone at his home in St. Charles during the summer and during the winters would go to Norwalk, California, where he stayed with his son Gova Black. The last two winters he has been staying with his son B. F. Black of Des Moines. This summer he lived with Mr. Simpson so that he could be cared for and still be near his old hometown.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist church.
He leaves two sons, B. F. Black and Gova Black of Norwalk, California; three brothers, Riley, Alex and Frank but St. Charles, and one sister, Mrs. Ann Collins but St. Charles.
His grandfather, Abraham Black, settled where Hanley now stands in 1851. His father, George Black, lived south of St. Charles, where Jesse Crawford now lives, and here William and a large family of children were reared.
