Page 6Mrs. Bert Epperson Dies
The death of Mrs. Bert Epperson of Oklahoma, occurred December 7, at the home of her sister, Mrs. J. O. Hircock, in Winterset. Mrs. Epperson had returned to Madison county about two months ago from Oklahoma, where she had made her home for the past 30 years. She was 63 years old.
Mrs. Epperson was born as Luella Jackson in Kentucky in 1872, coming to Iowa as a child with her parents, Nelson and Elmira Jackson. In 1890 she married Bert Epperson, and they were the parents of 10 children, five of whom survive.
Thirty-eight years ago Mrs. Epperson united with the Seventh Day Adventist church in Winterset, and maintained her membership in that church throughout her life.
Survivors include her husband, five children, Lloyd Epperson of Winterset, Nelson Epperson of St. Charles, Harvey Epperson of Oklahoma, Mrs. Verna Bodwell of Winterset, and Mrs. Corinthe Daniels of St. Charles; seven brothers, Andrew Jackson of Des Moines, Wesley Jackson of Martinsburg, Iowa, Edward Jackson of Wisconsin, Ernest Jackson of Mt. Pleasant, Rodger Jackson of Oklahoma and Odell and Enos Jackson of Eldon, Iowa; and five sisters Mrs. Mabel Eudaily of Minnesota, Mrs. C. L. Gray of Winterset, Mrs. J. O. Hircock of Winterset, Mrs. Fred Beall of Oklahoma and Mrs. Alta White of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Monday at the home of Mrs. Hircock, in charge of Elder Smithtown of the Adventist church in Des Moines. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
