John Owen Dowler, 69, passed away November 17, 2011 at Mercy Hospice-Johnston.
John was born December 25, 1941 at Winterset, Iowa to Clark B. and Mariam E. Dowler, both whom preceded him in death.
He is survived by brothers Chuck (Peg) and Dave (Lynn); sister, Ann (Max) Newbury; his beloved friend, Pam; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 19, with family greeting friends one hour prior to service. Burial will be in the Peru Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to Mercy Hospice-Johnston or ARL of Iowa.

John O. Dowler, 69, of Ankeny died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 19, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with burial in the Peru Cemetery. Pastor Joel Nau officiated. Memorials given to the family will be directed to Mercy Hospice-Johnston or ARL of Iowa.
John was born on Dec. 25, 1941, at Winterset to Clark E. and Mariam E. (Cosand) Dowler. He grew up in Winterset and after graduating from Winterset High School in 1960, John joined the US Navy and served as a SeaBee. After completing his military duty, he lived in Muscatine for 10 years and then moved back to the Winterset-Des Moines area. He had lived in Ankeny since 1997. John pursued engineering and development and had worked for several manufacturing companies.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clark and Mariam Dowler.
John is survived by his brothers, Chuck Dowler and Dave Dowler, sister, Ann Lucille Newbury; his beloved friend, Pam; and many nieces and nephews.
