Oregon Rites For Bill Hollen

Funeral services for Bill Hollen, age 51, a former Winterset resident were held Sept. 18, at Newport, Oregon. He was a victim of murder - suicide.

Hollen was a 1940 graduate of Winterset High School and later graduated from the University of Iowa Law School. He was a practicing attorney in Newport.

He is survived by four children, Gregory, Jeffrey, Roxanne and Robert, ages 18 - 24, all living at home. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Laura Hollen of Winterset; a brother, Dr. Robert Hollen, of Creston, Iowa; and twin sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Streffler, of Winterset and Mrs. Margaret Stark of Lawndale, California.

The brother and sisters attended the funeral service in Newport

Murder-Suicide
Newport, Ore. (AP)

City Atty. William Hollen and Polly McIntire died of pistol wounds in a murder-suicide, Police Chief Arthur Cox said Wednesday.

His report on the deaths said the shooting occurred late Sunday or early Monday when Hollen, 51 was shot four times and Mrs. McIntire, 57, shot herself once.
