PEARL DOUGHERTY, WINTERSET

Pearl Dougherty, 96, of Winterset died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at the Madison County Hospital in Winterset.

Pearl will be cremated and there will be no services. Burial will take place in the Richwood Cemetery, Henry County, Iowa near Trenton. Memorials may be directed to the Madison County Hospital, Winterset.

Pearl Emma Miller was born Sept. 22, 1915, in Packwood, Iowa, the daughter of John and Lula (Knerr) Miller. Pearl was a homemaker and mother, raising her three children. She later worked for the Army Ammunition Plant in Burlington for 27 1/2 years, where she worked as an ammunitions assembler. She attended the Church of the Open Bible and was a member of Tops.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Kraft; a grandchild; brothers, Harry, Harold and Jon; and sisters, Lavina, Goldie, and Vida.

She is survived by her children, Dora May Mercer of Davenport and Don Dougherty (Jan Carter) of St. Charles; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Miller of De Queen, Ark.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
