MARY LEE HINDMAN, WINTERSET

Mary Lee Hindman, 90, of Winterset died Aug. 4, 2011, at the Madison County Health Care System in Winterset.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. A visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m., prior to services Saturday morning. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery, Winterset. Memorials to her family are appreciated.

Mary Lee Rankin was born Nov. 27, 1920, in Macon, Mo., the daughter of Claire and Pearl (Duff) Rankin. Her marriage to Albert Dale Hindman took place Sept. 15, 1939, on the steps of the Madison County Courthouse during a community celebration. The couple’s names were drawn as winners of a wedding planned and paid for by local Winterset businesses and merchants.

Mary Lee was a homemaker and farm wife. She attended the Zion Church, New Hope Church and later the Four Square Gospel Church, and was also a member of the Monroe Happy Hour Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; siblings, Murray, Joe and Norma Rankin; and sons-in-law, Tom Woods and Dr. Gerald Leuty.
She is survived by her children, Virginia Walker of Orrick, Mo., Jeanne Leuty of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Allan Hindman of Winterset; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She is survived by her children, Virginia (Lloyd) Walker of Orrick, MO, Jeanne Leuty of Santa Rosa, CA, and Allan (Viola) Hindman of Winterset; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild.
