LEROY SAVERAID, Lorimor

LeRoy T. Saveraid, 73, of Lorimor died Monday, July 11, 2011, at the Madison County Health Care System in Winterset.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, at the First Baptist Church in Winterset. A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. today (Wednesday, July 13) at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, with family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to his family.

LeRoy was born April 11, 1938 in Red Oak, Iowa; the son of Walter and Juanita (Penry) Saveraid. He graduated from Waterloo East High School, class of 1957. He married his first wife, Mildred Ennenga in 1961. LeRoy later married Donna Ostercamp on March 31, 1984, in Waterloo. LeRoy was a truck driver with his dad for a number of years and a contract hauler for the Postal Service before working for Rock Island Millwork from 1969 to 1981. He was a contract hauler for the Des Moines Register from 1974 to 1980 and was most recently a self-employed carpenter. LeRoy attended the First Baptist Church of Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Wayne Saveraid.

He is survived by his wife Donna of Lorimor; his children, Pam Baker of Waterloo, Lee Saveraid of Des Moines, Mark Saveraid of Waterloo, Curtis Saveraid of Winterset, and Megan Saveraid of Winterset; two sisters, Norma Orum of Waterloo and Juanita Kottman of Illinois; a brother, Palmer Saveraid of Florida; and two grandchildren.

LeRoy, 73, died Monday, July 11th surrounded by family at Madison County Health Care System in Winterset.

He was an avid collector of Farmall antique tractors & enjoyed yearly participation in the Great Iowa Tractor Ride. He is survived by his wife Donna; five children, Pam Baker of Waterloo, Lee Saveraid of Des Moines, Mark Saveraid of Waterloo, Curtis Saveraid and Megan Saveraid both of Winterset; two sisters, Norma Orum of Waterloo and Juanita Kottman of Illinois; a brother, Palmer Saveraid of Florida; and two grandchildren, Evan and Nolan.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare in Winterset, with family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Winterset.

Memorial contributions may be directed to his family.
