James Willard Rhine, 59, died May 11, 2011 of a heart attack in Iola, Allen County, Kansas. Jim was born September 26, 1951 in Winterset, Madison County, Iowa, son of Willard Dale and Wilma Elizabeth Eyerly Rhine. He grew up in Earlham, Iowa and graduated from Earlham High School in 1969.

For several years Jim lived and worked in Iowa. After the death of his parents he lived and worked in different states, Tennessee, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Arizona and Kansas.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Jerry and sister, Betty Poland.

He is survived by his sister Jean Vandewater and husband Larry Joe of rural Greenfield; brother Larry Rhine and wife Sharon of Slater, Iowa; brother-in-law Richard Poland of Treynor, Iowa; nephews Brad Rhine of Griswold, Iowa, Aaron Poland, Bryce Poland, wife Jamie and children Hailee and Brock of Treynor, Iowa; nieces Debbie Miller and husband Tim of Hackett, Arkansas, Amy Poland of Laredo, Texas and Melissa Wisniewski, husband Mark and son Andrew of Carson, Iowa. Also his Aunt Erma Inman of Earlham, Uncle John Mitchell of Adel, several cousins and their families.

Family graveside memorial services were held at the Earlham Cemetery on July 9, 2011. Cousin Linda Burnett, retired pastor of the Earlham Friends Church, conducted the services.
