Milt Young died at his home north of town after a long and painful illness, aged about 76 years. He has lived in this vicinity since 1856. He was an old soldier of the 39th Iowa Regt.
He leaves a wife, three sons and one daughter, two sisters to mourn his loss.
The funeral was held in the Methodist church of which he was a member last Monday, conducted by Rev. Allen. The remains were laid to rest in the St. Charles cemetery south of town.

Page 3Robert Milton Young was born in Lawrence county, Pa., January 8, 1845. Departed this life January 4, 1919, at his home two miles north of St. Charles, aged 73 years, 11 months and 26 days. He moved to Iowa in May 1856, having lived continuously on the same farm until the time of his death.
He was united in marriage Oct. 30, 1872 to Miss Mary E. Kinnaird. To this union were born four children: Ira C., James E., Malinda A., and William R., all of whom together with his wife survive and were present at the time of his death. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Jas. McClosky of St. Charles, and Mrs. Isabel Kimer of Des Moines; three sisters and three brothers having preceded him in death. He also leaves three grandchildren, Margaret, Imogene, and Forest Milton Young.
He was converted in the year 1890 under the ministry of W. W. Williams and united with the Methodist church the same year. He has been a faithful and consistent member of the church and at different times during his sickness, expressed to his family his readiness “to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.”
He was conscious to the last and had no fear of death, bidding each member of his family goodbye in the full assurance of faith. He belonged to the G. A. R., enlisting in Co. F., 39th Iowa Volunteers. He was 17 months in the service and was faithful to his country as well as to his church. He was with Sherman on his march to the sea, and was privileged to unite in the grand review at Washington. Interment was at Saint Charles cemetery.
