Earl Baker, 58 Died Sunday -

Funeral services for Earl Baker, a maintenance employee and former bus driver in the Winterset Community schools, were held this Tuesday, December 10 at 1:00 p.m. from the Peru Methodist Church.

Mr. Baker died at his home in Winterset Sunday, December 8. He was 58 years of age.

A son of Rufus and Rosetta Markley Baker, he was born March 17, 1916 in Scranton, Kansas.

In May of 1947 he was married to Yvonne Hogue White, who preceded him in death. In October of 1963 he was married to Lucille Wilkinson Moore.

Mr. Baker farmed and was a school bus driver at both Peru and Winterset for a period of 20 years.

He is survived by his wife Lucille, three sons, Michael of Des Moines, Merritt of Ames and David of Winterset and seven step-children.

He is also survived by 12 brothers and sisters, Clarence and Floyd of Macksburg, Russell Baker of Peru, Charles Baker of Ridge Crest, California, Hazel Knouf of Norwalk, Florence Stifel of Selah, Washington, Aleta McChesney of Norwalk, Ruth Bush of Anadel, Missouri, Elsie Allen of Winterset, Grace Carter of Arkansas, Wanda Baker of Marlette, Michigan and Kathryn Patterson of Des Moines.

In addition to his first wife he was also preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.

Officiating at the funeral service this Tuesday was the Rev. Richard Hempenius of Truro. Burial was in the Peru Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Baker and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Baker attended the funeral services for their brother, Earl Baker of Winterset, at the Methodist Church in Peru on Tuesday afternoon.
