DOROTHY M. KOOKER

Dorothy M. Kooker, 95, of Winterset died Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 15, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Rev. Bill Branson officiating. Bur-ial will be in the Winterset Cemetery at Winterset. Memorials may be given to her family for a future designation.

Dorothy was born on Oct. 1, 1915, at Des Moines, Iowa to Robert and Mary (Christianson) Warnock. She was a 1933 graduate of East High School in Des Moines and was married on Dec. 22, 1939, at Kansas City, Kan., to Gaylord Eugene Kooker. She has lived in the Winterset area for the past 61 years and had been a homemaker and a farmwife. She belonged the N. O. Club in Patterson, the Patterson United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women. Dorothy enjoyed doing crafts and being with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Raymond (life partner Mary Staley) Kooker of Winterset; daughter, Vicki (Dale) Sorensen of Des Moines; brother, Ralph Warnock of El Cajon, Calif.; grandchildren, Larry Kooker, Linda Kooker, Kris Roberts, Karyn Markey, Amy Sorensen and Darren Sorensen; step great-grandchildren, Brent Sutherland, Chad Sutherland and Adam Sutherland; and great-grandchildren, Chantel, Nevaeh, Cody, Dylan, Chase, Breana, Phoebe, Shelby, Madisen, Rachel and Caleb.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Mary (Christensen) Warnock; and her husband, Gaylord E. Kooker.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
