Death of Mrs. Phillips

Mrs. George Phillips died at her home near Pitzer, Tuesday, October 29th. She had been in ill health for some time. Funeral service will be held at the home today (Thursday, October 31st) at 2 o’clock. Rev. Hastie, of Early Chapel will conduct the services and burial will be in the Pitzer cemetery. Mrs. Phillips was 63 years of age at the time of her death. She is survived by her husband, two brothers, Harry and Will Rausenberger, and a sister, Mrs. Cora Darbey.

Sarah JoAnn Rausenberger, daughter of John and Jane Rausenberger, was born August 25th, 1866, at Columbus City, Iowa, and passed peacefully away into the other life at her home in Early Chapel, Oct. 29, 1929, her age being 63 years, 2 months, and 4 days.

From Columbus City, Iowa, she with her parents moved to Guthrie county in 1886, and later they came to Early Chapel, Madison County, in 1894. She was united in marriage to George Phillips on October 9th, 1909.

She united with the Presbyterian church when a young woman. After her marriage she united with the Early Chapel Church of Christ, and was an active member until the time of her death.

She leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband, George Phillips, two brothers, Will Rausenberger, of Waurika, Oklahoma, and Harry Rausenberger, of Fairfield, Iowa; also one sister, Mrs. M. E. Darby, of Aurord, Mo., and a large number of relatives and friends. Mrs. Phillips was a faithful wife, good neighbor and friend to all. She loved her church and did what she could to advance its every interest. She helped by her presence and kindly counsel in the work of the Ladies Aid Society, Bible School and other departments of the church’s life.

From the home and the community a valuable life has been called, but only to answer the higher summons to the life that is more abundant. Mrs. Phillips is resting from her labors, and the sweet remembrances of her earthly life will ever live.

The funeral services were conducted in the home last Thursday by W. J. Hastie, pastor of the Early Chapel Church of Christ. Interment was in the Jackson Township cemetery.
