Louisa Graham was born in Richmond, Ohio, September 8, 1855. She came with her parents to Vermillion county, Illinois when quite young. Early in her life she united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church, later transferring her membership to the Methodist church at Kingsley Chapel.

December 25, 1877 she was united in marriage to G. T. Carrington of the same neighborhood and where they made their home for two years moving to Union county, Iowa in the spring of 1880, living there for sixteen years. They moved to Madison county in 1896, resided in Penn township from that year until 1919 when they retired from the farm and established their home in Earlham. To them three children were born: Claude, of Central City, Nebraska, Millie of Dexter and George of Earlham.

Mrs. Carrington had been in failing health since about the first of the year and she passed away at her home on September 7, 1924, lacking one day of being sixty-nine years of age. She leaves to mourn her death the husband, three children, seven grandchildren, one sister and many other relatives and friends.

She was a devoted wife and mother, always thinking of the interests and needs of others, never sparing herself, and never being satisfied until her husband and children were comfortable.

She was patient in her suffering, hoping always for recovery. When told of the serious nature of her illness she very calmly made her final plans and expressed herself many times as being ready for the hour when she would go to her Heavenly home, where pain and sorrow are no more and she can greet loved ones again.

A brief funeral service was conducted from the home in Earlham, Tuesday afternoon, after which the body was taken to the Penn Center Methodist church for the services which were in charge of Rev. J. G. Stephens.
