Death of Mrs. ANNA DEETER

Anna Stephenson Deeter died at her home in Winterset, Monday morning, Feb. 19th, after a lengthy illness following a stroke of paralysis occurring about a year and a half ago. The Stinson family located here at an early date, taking up a homestead on the land across the road from the old P. M. Boyles farm east of town.

Mr. and Mrs. Deeter were married about 35 years ago and have one son, Ray. Besides the husband and son, Mrs. Deeter leaves a sister, Mrs. Jane Childers and two brothers, John and Ed.

The funeral services occurred this afternoon at the Christian church at 2:30 with burial in the Winterset cemetery.

ANNA STEPHESON DEETER

Anna Stepheson was born in Winterset, Iowa, Feb. 27, 1850. Departed this life Feb. 19, 1917, aged 66 years, 11 months, 18 days. She was united in marriage to Roland Deeter, Feb. 11, 1883. To this union one child was born, Ray Deeter. In early life she united with the Methodist church, but of late years was an attendant of the Christian church when her health would permit.

The deceased is survived by her companion, Roland Deeter, her son, Ray, one sister, Mrs. Joel Childers, two brothers, John Stepheson of Winterset and Edward of Nevada, besides many other relatives and friends to mourn their loss. She was a congenial companion, a devoted mother, an esteemed neighbor.

Funeral services were held in the Christian church Feb. 21st at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Allen D. Mann. Burial in the Winterset cemetery.

Coordinator's note: Transcribed as published, maiden name is "Stinson" per Madison County Marriage Record. In the mid 1880s, the family went by Stephenson but by the 1900s, they were going by "Stinson".
