St. Charles - MRS. SYLVESTER STRABLE

Grandma Strable of near Bevington, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. W. Smull, after only about 48 hours illness, aged 79 years, 8 months and 22 days. She leaves to mourn her loss six children: three sons, Enoch, John and Frank Strable; and three daughters, Mrs. John Cody of Bevington, Mrs. Will Shannon of near Wick and Mrs. C. W. Smull, where she spent her last days on earth; one sister, Mrs. Hartrock of Des Moines and 22 grandchildren.

She made it a point to visit around among her children and when she went to visit her daughter, where she died, when she met her at the gate, said that she had come to stay a week with her; and just one week, almost to the hour that she walked in the gate, feeling as well as usual, she was taken out a corpse . But such is life, “Be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not when the Son of Man cometh.”

Funeral services were held at Blair Chapel Sabbath Day, conducted by Rev. S. W. Lee of Wick and interment was made in the cemetery near the church.
