RAYMOND RICKETS, WINTERSET

Raymond Rickets, 84, of Winterset died Monday, Feb. 7, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with Pastor Ed McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in the Barney Cemetery in Madison County. Visitation will be today (Wednesday, Feb. 9) from noon to 8 p.m. at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation.

Raymond was born on Nov. 27, 1926, at Barney, Iowa to Fred and Hazel (Kirsh) Rickets. He was married on April 2, 1945, at Lorimor to Doris Pauline Jeffs. Raymond had been the owner of the Lorimor Seed Company and had been a resident of Winterset for 48 years. He served in the Merchant Marines during the early 1950s.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Doris Rickets of Winterset; son, Mark Rickets of Winterset; daughters, Rebecca Pugh of Winterset and Sharon Figliolino of Monroe Township, NJ; brother, Jake E. Rickets of Randle, Wash.; six grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Hazel Rickets; and grandchildren, Christopher Rickets and Melissa Rickets.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.

Raymond Rickets, 84, of Winterset, Iowa, died Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 10, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Burial will be in the Barney Cemetery at Madison County, Iowa.

Raymond was born on November 27, 1926, at Barney, Iowa to Fred & Hazel (Kirsh) Rickets. He was married on April 2, 1945 at Lorimor, Iowa, to Doris Jeffs. Raymond had been the owner of the Lorimor Seed Company and had been a resident of Winterset for 48 years. He enjoyed flying, horse racing and traveling. Raymond served in the Merchant Marines during the early 1950's.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Doris Rickets of Winterset; son, Mark (Linda) Rickets of Winterset; daughters, Rebecca Pugh of Winterset and Sharon (Gary) Figliolino of Monroe Township, New Jersey; brother, Jake E. (Phyliss) Rickets of Randle, Washington; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m. at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation.
