FRED McCALL
Fred, the 12 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Gail McCall, was drowned in a pond on the Decker farm in Monroe township on Tuesday afternoon. He had gone over to Decker's to play, and in the company with Lee Decker, a boy of the same age, had gone over to the pond, which has steep and slippery banks. Possibly Fred had been searching for a good place to enter the pond when he slipped in, with fatal results. This occurred about 2:30 and as soon as word could be gotten to the neighbors, seines were taken over to search for the body. To expedite the search, the draining of the pond was begun. Shortly afterward the child was found by M. O. Brady, in six feet of water, face downward. Four doctors were present, but as the body had been in the water over an hour, nothing could be done to resuscitate it.
Mr. And Mrs. McCall have a boy older and a little girl about six years old.
The heart of every parent in this community goes out in sympathy to those whose lives have been so suddenly and tragically saddened.
Funeral services will be held at the McCall home at three o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
