Dexter, IowaEldora Leeper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Leeper, was born in Madison county, Iowa, Sept. 17, 1880 and passed away at her late home in Dexter, Iowa, Nov. 12, 1940.
She grew to young womanhood and attended the public schools in her home community and later on attended the Dexter Normal School.
Aug. 15, 1905, she was united in marriage with Edson Knight; to this union were born two sons, Hugh C. Knight of Elkhorn, Iowa, and Dr. Edson Knight of Garwin, Iowa. May 25, 1910 she was bereft of her husband, after which she moved to Dexter with her parents. May 4, 1916, she was united in marriage with Wyman D. Knight.
When quite young, she united with the Penn Center Methodist church and when she moved to town, her membership was transferred to this church. She served faithfully in various offices of the church and as long as her health permitted, was a faithful attendant at the services. She always had an encouraging word for all who were interested in the noblest and best things, which was the secret of her well lived life. She was a wonderful mother, a devoted wife and a loved sister, a real friend to everyone. She was one of the most appreciative women in the whole community; she loved the beautiful and the good. Her kindly words like the golden sunbeam, her jovial disposition won for her an everlasting friendship; her faith, hope and love for the best things will outlast time and live in a never-ending eternity. Her cheerful words were like the beautiful spring time; her character was like a beautiful day in June, attracting all with whom she came in contact. She was a charter member of the Rebekah Lodge in Dexter and was interested in the public welfare.
Besides her sorrowing husband and two sons, she leaves three grandchildren. They are: Marilyn Knight of Elkhorn, Ia.; Bradley and Ronald Knight of Garwin, Ia. The following brothers and sisters: Frank Leeper of Dexter; F. W. Leeper of Chicago; Mrs. Essie Moore of Dexter; Ray Leeper of Modesto, Calif. and Mrs. Reva Maulsby of Chicago. One brother, Harry, and two sisters, with her parents, preceded her to the great beyond.
Funeral from the Methodist church conducted by Rev. J. H. Freedline, last Wednesday afternoon.
Note: Burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.
