W. G. Mitchell was born in Dauphin county, Pennsylvania, October 23, 1859 and died at his home in Webster township, Madison county, Iowa, January 19, 1916, after a brief illness.
He was never married, but is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Pryor of Plateau City, Colo., Mrs. Matilda Scofield of Greenfield, Iowa and a twin brother, J. W. Mitchell of San Jose, California.
Funeral services were held at the M. E. church in Webster by Rev. R. A. Grigsby and burial was in the Roberts cemetery, near Webster.
He lived an earnest christian life and was a good citizen, a good neighbor and a true friend. He was one of the earlier settlers of Webster township and was fifty seven years old at the time of his death.
