Pg 3

Laura B., daughter of Thomas and Mary Young, was born in Washington county, Iowa, September 16th, 1858. When she was 15 she came with the family to Winterset. Her girlhood and young womanhood were spent in and near Winterset.

She was united in marriage to Geo. W. Young in 1892 and to this union four children were born. One died in infancy and those remaining are Mrs. Helen Hamilton and sons, Robert of Winterset and Ted of Valley Junction.

As a girl, Laura was always jolly and had a pleasing personality and though her later years were filled with sadness, she still retained the friendliness and kindness of heart that endeared her to those who knew her. She was a kind and loving mother willing to make every sacrifice for her children.

She has been in failing health for the past five years but was only bedfast a few days, and passed away on September 4th, 1926, aged 67 years, 11 months and 19 days.

She leaves besides her husband and children, three brothers, Joe of Winterset, John of Des Moines and Oliver of Creston, and eight grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at Tidrick’s funeral home Sunday at 2 o’clock by Rev. F. Clare McCallon.

Note: Burial was made in the Primitive Baptist cemetery.
