JAMES JONES, WINTERSET

James A. Jones, 83, of Winterset died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, at Winterset Care Center North.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 29) at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Branson officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. His body has been cremated with the cremains being interred in the Winterset Cemetery.

Jim was born on Jan. 6, 1927, in Woodward, Iowa, to Alfred and Pearla (Mitchell) Jones. He grew up in Winterset and was a 1945 graduate of Winterset High School. Jim joined the U.S. Army after high school and served for one year. Upon his return, Jim had mainly been a truck driver, having also driven for Greyhound Bus Lines for several years. He had lived in the Chicago area for many years spending many summers in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Roy Jones and Walter Jones.

He is survived by several cousins, including Carl Adams of Winterset.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
