MRS. ELIZABETH NEWTON

Elizabeth Weeks, daughter of Geo. And Lovina Weeks, was born in Fulton county, Illinois, March 19, 1849, and died at her home in Kasson, May 25, 1914, age 65 years, 2 months and 6 days. She came with her parents to Madison county, Iowa, in the fall of 1859. On May 21, 1876 she married Johnson Marion Newton. One child came to bless this union, Mrs. Ira Smith, who recently made her home with her mother in order to care for her the better.

She united with the Church of Christ when a girl and her life was given to her Master in a most helpful way, sharing nobly with her husband the responsibility in his gospel ministry. With the exception of ten years spent in Nebraska, she and her husband made Kasson their home. Her husband died November 27, 1907.

Besides her daughter, she leaves to mourn her death one stepdaughter, Mrs. Fred Felton, of Springfield, South Dakota; three brothers, James, of Creston; Will, of Monroe township; and George, of Webster township; three grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service was conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis at the Kasson church May 27. Interment in Rock City cemetery.
