Charles A. Mann died at the home of his sister, Mrs. F. M. Brown, near Ruthven, Iowa, on April 23d, after an illness of only a few hours.

He was born near St. Charles, Iowa, December 4, 1876. When a boy his parents moved to Winterset, where he resided forty-four years. The family then moved to a farm six miles east of Winterset where they lived for several years, afterwards moving to Des Moines. For the past two years, he had made his home with his sister near Ruthven.

Mr. Charles A. Mann passed away on Thursday evening, April 23rd, at the home of his sister, Mrs. F. M. Brown. He was ill only a few hours. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in this city on Friday afternoon, April 24th, Rev. Lumley officiating. The remains were taken to Spencer from which point they were shipped to Des Moines, the former home of the deceased.

Charles A. Mann was born on Dec. 4th, 1876 near St. Charles in Warren county, Iowa. At eight years of age, he moved to Winterset, where he lived four years. From Winterset, his parents changed their location to a farm six miles east where they lived nine years. This is where his boyhood days were spent. From the farm they moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where he has resided continuous with exception of the past two winters when he lived near Ruthven, Ia., at the home of his sister, Mrs. F. M. Brown. He was married in July 1902, to Pearl Maine of Des Moines. To this union e child was born, Louise Marie. She departed this life March 14, 1911.

His purpose in life was to follow his Master’s example; always kind and considerate of others and ready to give a helping hand to everyone that came in his pathway.

He had not been in good health for a number of years, and his last illness was of short duration. He leaves to mourn his loss two sisters, one brother and a number of near relatives and many friends.

The Free Press joins the many Ruthven friends of the Brown family in extending sincere sympathy.
