ALVIN GRISWOLD

Alvin Griswold was born in Marion county, Ohio, May 8, 1842, and died April 12, 1915, aged 72 years, 11 months and four days. He married Mary E. Kivett, Nov. 8, 1866. To this union nine children were born, seven boys and two girls. Two preceded him in death.

Those attending the funeral were: Mrs. Elmia Brinegar of Hiawassa, Ark.; Anna Potter of Dalton, Neb., and Richard and Orville of Macksburg, Iowa.

In the year of 1861 he enlisted in the army and was there until the close of the Civil war. During this time he was twice wounded, and from these he never fully recovered. He was a true soldier in every respect, and always delighted in relating the experiences of his life. During the war he was converted and in 1863 he united with the Free Will Baptist church, Seeing fit to change belief, he later joined the Seventh Day Adventist church. To this belief he remained faithful in the last. He always had a word of encouragement for every one. He was a true husband and devoted father.

The funeral was held in the Baptist church Tuesday, April 13, conducted by H. A. Criss. A large and attentive audience being present manifesting the high esteem in which he was held by all.
