Pg 6

Christine P. Fehd, daughter of Fred and Mary Fehd was born in the small village of Untersalisen, Bavaria, Germany, May 10, 1866, and died after several years of declining health, at her home north of Truro, May 9, 1924, aged 58 years, 1 month and 29 days.

In her early childhood, she began her work for God by maintaining the fundamental doctrines of the protestant faith and by memorizing the two catechisms necessary previous to the confirmation of the Evangelical Lutheran faith, under which she was confirmed at the age of fourteen.

She came with her parents to America in October, 1881 and was united in marriage, April 4, 1898 to John P. Attig of St. Charles. To this union was born one son, who mourns her loss together with her husband, two sisters, Mrs. V. Bilz and Mrs. Lena Siebenmann, both of Des Moines; also three brothers: Fred, Michael and Ande of Oskaloosa, all being present at the funeral. Besides those close to her, she leaves a host of other relatives and friends, who will mourn the passing of her serene and gentle life.

She joined the Christian church of Truro with her husband about twenty years ago, and remained a loyal member to its support until her death.

She was a kind and loving mother, always ready to assist those in need and she could never turn away a hungry wanderer without first giving food and comfort. Previous to her failing health, she was a tireless worker, always ready to contribute her labor to the happiness of others. She was a great sufferer during her last hours, which were brief, yet she bore it gently. The friends and loved ones did all in their power to relieve her suffering, yet no human skill could save her, and at last the weary wheels of life stood still. Her suffering was over, her spirit had returned to God who gave it.

Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. R. L. Raybourn on May 12th at 2 p.m., after which the remains were taken to St. Charles for interment.
