LUKE BOONE, Missouri

Luke Llewellyn Boone, 93, of Maryville, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 19.

Visitation was held at the Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Maryville on Friday, Nov. 26. Services were held Saturday, Nov. 27, at the Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Van Meter on Monday, Nov. 29. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Maryville or the Northwest Missouri State University Foundation.

Luke was born Oct. 30, 1917, in Galt, Iowa, to Luke Algernon and Rose Alma King Boone. L.L. graduated from the Dows Independent High School in 1935. He graduated from the Iowa State Teachers College. He married Ada Adele Whitley in Fayette, Iowa, Aug. 11, 1940; she preceded him in death on June 21, 1941. He married Rosie Marie Lienemann in Van Meter Dec. 27, 1948; she preceded him in death on April 6, 1958. He served in the U.S. Navy. He taught in junior and senior high schools in Iowa and Illinois, and at Eastern Oregon College in LaGrande and Northwest Missouri State University. He was a member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Maryville, the National Education Association, the Missouri State Teachers Association, Phi Delta Kappa and the Association of Educational Communication and Technology.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Chessle Boone; two sisters, Bonnie Osborne and Verla Lundahl.

He is survived by a son, Luke Boone of Stanberry, Mo.; a daughter, Twyla Hazen of Maryville; two sisters, Bessie Ritter and Darlene Balsar of Clarion, Iowa; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

LUKE L. BOONE, Maryville, Mo.

Luke Llewellyn Boone, 93, of Maryville left his home and went to live in his real home in heaven on Friday, November 19, 2010.

He was born October 30, 1917, in Galt, Iowa, to Luke Algernon and Rose Alma (King) Boone. Luke was a retired educator.

He married Ada Adele Whitley in Fayette, Iowa, on August 11, 1940. She preceded him in death on June 21, 1941.

He married Rosie Marie Lienemann in Van Meter, Iowa December 27, 1948. She preceded him in death on April 6, 1958.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Chessle Boone; and sisters, Bonnie Osborne and Verla Lundahl of Clarion, Iowa.

Survivors include his son, Luke Clifford Boone, Stanberry, Mo.; and daughter, Twyla Marie Hazen, Maryville; sisters, Bessie Ritter and Darlene Balsar, both of Clarion, Iowa; sister-in-law, Beverly Boone, Albert Lea, Minn.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 26, at the Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Maryville.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, November 27, at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Maryville. Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday, November 29, at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Maryville or the Northwest Missouri State University Foundation.
