Mariah Bennet was born in Ohio October 30, 1825, and died December 18, 1914 at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 19 days. Her parents came to Indiana when she was a child.
She was married April 22, 1851, to Samuel B. Arnold, who preceded her in death April 7, 1874. To this union ten children were born, two of whom passed away in childhood and John W. Arnold died in Fresno, Cal., July 8, 1912. Those living are Mrs. M. E. Ralston of New Virginia, G. W. Arnold and Mrs. Rosella Debord of Patterson, Mrs. C. A. Ralston of Fer, Neb., J. M. Arnold of Truro, Mrs. Fred Bunting of Council Bluffs, and S. J. Arnold of Norwalk.
Besides the above relatives she leaves to mourn her loss thirty-seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. For the past few years she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. M. E. Ralston of New Virginia.
She was converted when a girl and united with the Methodist Episcopal church and lived a faithful Christian life until the end. The funeral was conducted at the Patterson Methodist Episcopal church Monday at 1 p.m. Burial made in McGinnis cemetery.
