Death of Guy Orr

Friends and relatives of Guy Orr were shocked to hear, Wednesday morning of his death, which had taken place some time during the preceding night. He had left the house late Tuesday evening and had gone to the barn, where he had hung himself, and was found the next morning. No cause is known for the act, as Mr. Orr seemingly had the best of health and a most happy home life.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. and was born in Scott township 31 years ago. He has always lived in that township, where he had many friends.

He is survived by his wife, who was Reva Deardorff of Peru; one son and two daughters. No definite arrangements have been made for the funeral, but it is thought that it will be held at the Methodist church on Friday. They are waiting to hear from some relatives in Colorado.

Emmett Guy Orr, son of W. C. and Myrtle Orr, was born in Scott township, Madison county, Nov. 18, 1892 and departed this life Dec. 11, 1923. He grew to manhood in the home community and entered into all the activities of the neighborhood.

He was married Sept. 16, 1914 to Miss Reva Deardorff. To this union were born three children, Winifred, aged 8; Gail, aged 4 and Ladona, aged 18 months. During the prolonged illness of his wife, he was ever thoughtful of her every need and surrounded her with loving care. He was an affectionate father and enjoyed a cheerful home. The loved ones had scarcely recovered from the sorrow caused by the death of his only brother, Clifton, on July 13, 1921 when this new bereavement came to them. Guy leaves to mourn his departure, a loving wife and three children, a father and mother, and an aged grandmother Mrs. Anna Feeley and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. D. J. Shenton.
