Pg 1Death of Emanuel Wolverton
Emanuel Wolverton, who moved from Madison county to a farm near Conrad, Mont., a few years ago died on the 16th, after a prolonged illness from cancer of the stomach. The following obituary notice is taken from the Conrad paper:
Mr. Wolverton was born in Madison county, Iowa, where he resided until coming to Montana a few years ago. He was raised a farmer lad, which occupation he followed through life. The deceased had been twice married, his first union being with Miss Minnie Johnson, who died, leaving a son, Earl, who is a prosperous farmer on the North Bench. His second wife was Miss Clara Ford, who was his loving companion and wise counselor the remainder of his life. To this union were born two sons, Ray and Ott Wolverton, also prosperous farmers of the same community.
Mr. Wolverton united with the Church of Christ in early manhood and has always been a faithful member and a good worker in the church. His whole life has been an open book. He was loved and honored by all who knew him, never had an enemy and his word was just as good as a gold bond. He was a prohibitionist, but never mixed in politics.
Left to mourn his loss besides his wife and three sons and six grandchildren, are a saintly old mother, two brothers and three sisters. Thus passes from our community one who was not only a loving companion and a kind and affectionate father, but an upstanding citizen worth while.
The remains were laid to rest from the Christian church, Rev. Benny officiating. The remains will lie in state in Great Falls for a time, after which they will be shipped to the old home in Iowa.
