Coleen Williams, 74, of Lorimor, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the Lorimor United Methodist Church in Lorimor with Rev. Dwayne Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in the Lorimor Cemetery at Lorimor.
Coleen was born on May 20, 1936, at Madison County, Iowa to Gerdon and Ruby (Peterson) Kirk. She was married on Sept. 16, 1951, at Lorimor to Donald Williams. She had been a lifetime resident of Madison and Union counties and was a wife, mother, homemaker and a proud grandmother of five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Coleen did a variety of occupations in retail sales, she was an entrepreneur, having her own ceramic business and involved in Williams Insurance. Coleen was also involved in economic development and betterment for the town of Lorimor, helping secure the Winnebago facility for the community. She had been a member and a Sunday school teacher at the Lorimor United Methodist Church for many years.
Coleen is survived by her husband, Don Williams of Lorimor; children, Melody Black and husband Randy of Orlando, Fla., and Roger Williams and special friend Kathy Hill of Windsor Heights; sisters, Vicky Jo Mateer and husband Darrell of Murray and Dixie Lee Decker and husband Everett of Peru; grandchildren, Dawn Stoner, Nathan Black, Trevor Williams, Ryan Williams, and Blair Williams; and great-grandchildren, Grace Stoner and Emma Stoner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerdon and Ruby (Peterson) Kirk; and nephew, Danny Joe Busick.
Memorials may be directed to her family for a future designation.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
