North RiverMrs. John Rhodes, a resident of this community until recent years, died in Des Moines. Friday. The body was brought to Winterset Monday and laid to rest beside her husband in the Farris cemetery in Union township.

Mrs. Mariba M. Beedle was born in 1855 in Union township, Madison county, Iowa, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. E. Bent in Des Moines, April 28, 1911. In March 1875, she was married to John Rhodes who died in 1895. To this union were born 12 children, two dying in infancy. Nine daughters and one son are still living: Mrs. Thora E. Dunn of California; Mrs. Nora Devine of Des Moines; Mrs. Myrtle Stauffer of Texas; Mrs. Elizabeth Wagner of Denver; Mrs. Mary Dennison of Chicago; Mrs. Maria Bent of Des Moines; Mrs. Clara Perry of Des Moines and Cora, Charley and Hazel Rhodes of Des Moines. Besides these, she leaves four sisters and two brothers.
In early life she was converted in the M.E. church, and her beautiful life always exemplified the highest, holiest and best. A favorite saying with her was “Always be ready.”
The body was shipped from Des Moines on May 1st. Funeral services were held in the Church of Christ at ten a.m., conducted by Rev. Davis. Interment was made in the Farris cemetery in Union township. Six of the children were present, also Messrs. Devine, Bent and Perry and a number of Des Moines friends.
