Lucy Ann Boling was born in Clay county, Indiana, July 11, 1848 and died at her home in Winterset, Iowa, April 16, 1911. Her parents were Arthur and Bluford Boling and she was the tenth member of a family of eleven children. In November, 1855, her parents emigrated to Iowa, coming direct to Madison county, where they entered land in Monroe township, and began their home life near the home of her childhood, occupying a part of what is known as the Bullock farm.
One son, John was born Feb. 15, 1877. The husband died in 1878, but the mother, with her son continued to live on the farm until about ten years ago when they moved to Winterset, which was the home of the deceased until her death. In the death of her son about two years ago, Mrs. Bullock suffered a second bereavement.
In early life, she was converted and for many years was a member of the Methodist church at Kasson and later took an active part in the work with the Holiness denomination, and died a firm believer in the Christian faith.
Although not strong for several years, she was in her usual health until a week before her death, and it was a surprise to her friends when they learned that she had passed away, having been stricken with apoplexy on the morning of April 15th. She is survived by two sisters and three brothers.
A preliminary services was held at the home of her sister, Mrs. V. L. Patterson of Winterset, after which, the regular service was held at the Bethany church near her old home and interment made in the Bullock cemetery.

Mrs. Lucy Boling Bullock, a well known and old resident, died at her home in this city Sunday of paralysis after an illness of only four days.
The funeral occurred Tuesday. Services were held in Winterset at the home of her sister, Mrs. S. V. Callison and at the Blue Front church in Monroe township, her old home. The interment was in Clark’s cemetery in Monroe.
Mrs. Bullock was about sixty years old and came to Madison county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Blueford Boling, when a little girl. The family was one of the largest and oldest in the county and has been prominent in its affairs since its settlement. Mrs. Bullock has been a widow a number of years.
She was a kind hearted woman who had many friends. She is survived by several brothers and sisters, only one or two of them, now living in the county.
_______________________Coordinator's note: The two obituaries disagree on her place of burial. Her husband, who died 34 years before her is buried in the Bullock Cemetery, with a gravestone. However, both the Winterset News obituary and the Madison County Death Records say she is buried in the Clark Cemetery. The truth seems indeterminate as she has no gravestone in either cemetery..
