Obituary of Mrs. Hannah Fee

The deceased, whose maiden name was Hannah Bennett, was born in Fayette county, Pa., Feb. 25, 1823 and died at Stuart, Iowa, Dec. 9, 1910 being aged at death 87 years 9 months and 14 days. With her parents at an early age, she moved from the place of her birth to Clairmount county, Ohio, where several years were spent. Later her parents took up their residence in Marion county, Ind., which was their home for some time.

Here, Oct. 1, 1840, the deceased was married to William Fee, with whom a happy wedlock of over fifty years was spent. In 1852 as pioneers into a new country this family came and settled in Madison county, Iowa, where there was made the home for the children and into the development of which there went much of the life energy of this husband and wife.

There were born to these parents six children, five of whom, Mrs. Lucinda Barnett of Arkansas City, Kans.; Mrs. Eliza Barnett of Stuart, Iowa; Mrs. Louisa Barnett of Sprague, Wash.; Mrs. Candace Myers of Winterset, Iowa and Mrs. Belle Clark of Des Moines, Iowa survive their mother.

Mrs. Fee was a good soul, kindly disposed and loving to those about her. She filled up her days with good works. The years were many, but she wrought skillfully the task given her to perform and when the evening of life drew on and the tired body must lie down to rest with the assurance to those left behind that all for her is well, she left the tenement of clay into the new life that awaits those faithful to their duties here.

The funeral, conducted by Rev. W. A. Briggs of the Congregational church of Stuart, was held at Fairview M.E. church, eight miles south and east of Earlham on Saturday, and the remains were laid to rest in the churchyard cemetery by the side of her lifelong companion.
