EVERETT EIVINS, MISSOURI

Everett C. Eivins, 71, of St. Joseph, Mo., died June 25, 2010, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, June 28, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory in St. Joseph, Mo. Memorials may be directed to the Special Olympics. Online condolences may be made at www.meierhoffer.com.

Everett Eivins was born Dec. 1, 1938, in Winterset to Floyd and Ruth (Young) Eivins. His marriage to Carol Wagner took place July 1, 1964. Everett was an engineer for Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement. His memberships included Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 571, NARVE (where he served as an officer), BLE and UTU unions, and Eagles Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Velma Frantum and Thelma Eivins.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, of St. Joseph, Mo.; two sons, Michael Eivins and Jonathan Eivins, both of St. Joseph, Mo.; three brothers, Marvin Eivins of Macksburg, Harvey Eivins of Winterset, and Arnold Eivins of Ceresco, Neb.; and four grandchildren.
