Miss Mary A. Linsier was born in Schenectady, Herkirmer county, New York, Jan. 28th, 1844. At the age of ten years, she moved with her parents to Erie county, N. J. On July 2nd, 1866, she was married to Mr. Richard Smith. To this union was born six children; four boys and two girls, Geo. E., Henry L., Arthur D., William E., Helen R. and Mrs. May Booth. All the children except William, who passed away Oct. 20th, 1890, are living and with the father and husband mourn the loss of a wife and mother.
In 1869 the family moved to Jackson county, Ia. After seven years they came to Madison county and in 1883 moved to Dallas county, where they resided until two years ago, when they moved to Winterset.
Sister Smith died April 4th, 1908, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Booth, in Dallas, South Dakota, where he had gone a few weeks ago for a short visit. She was making her plans to start home, when she sickened and died in a few hours. The news of her death came as a great shock to the husband and children, neighbors and friends.
The funeral services were held at the home of her son, Henry Smith, conducted by Rev. Jno. Gibson, of the DeSoto M. E. church and the remains were laid away in the DeSoto cemetery.
