JEANNINE ORR, Boone

Jeannine Orr, 81, of 1525 1st Street in Boone passed away at her home on Sunday morning, May 30, 2010.

She was born on November 29, 1928 in Boone, the daughter of Albert and Ethel (Pollard) Lindmark.

On July 16, 1949, she married Roger Orr at the First United Methodist Church in Boone.

Jeannine graduated from Boone High School in 1947, Grand View College in Des Moines in 1973 and received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Drake University in 1974.

She was a secretary for the Boone County Tax Service from 1947 until 1951, from 1951 to 1954 was employed by Solar Aircraft in Des Moines, and from 1954 to 1956, was employed by the Peer Law Firm. Jeannine began teaching in Boone in 1976 and taught at the Page and Bryant Elementary Schools until her retirement in 1990.

Jeannine was a 50 year member of the First United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women; a 50 year member and past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Earlham Chapter; and a member of the Boone Retired Teacher’s Association.

Her parents; husband, Roger in April of 2008; two sisters Helen and Fern; four brothers William, Marvin, Robert and Kenneth; and an infant brother Herman preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter Barbara Orr of Boone; two sons, Mike Orr and wife Linda of Arvada, CO, Tim Orr and wife Suzanne of Johnston, IA; grandchildren Chris Orr of Evans, CO, Katy and Kelly Orr both of Arvada, CO, Jacob and Elizabeth Orr both of Johnston, IA; one sister Sharon Lantz and husband Dick of Boone; sisters-in-law Jan Lindmark of NC and Connie Lindmark of Kennewick, WA; many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Thursday morning, June 3 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Boone with Rev. Philip Webb officiating.

Interment will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. with the family present during that time to greet friends. Visitation will continue on Thursday morning at the Church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial may direct their gift to the First United Methodist Church.
