HELEN ELIZABETH NYDEGGER, Adel

Helen Nydegger was born March 18, 1917 in Clayton County, IA, the youngest child of William Huebner and Mary Possehl. She died May 20 at West Bridge Care Center in Winterset.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 24, at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with cremation following. Friends may call after noon Sunday at the funeral home where family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. A combined memorial graveside service for Helen and her late husband will be at a later date at the Clayton Center Cemetery.

Helen grew up on a farm near St. Olaf, IA, and graduated from Elkader High School in 1935. She married Reuben Nydegger in Elkader on November 25, 1941. They farmed in the Elkader area for many years, moving to Adel in 1960, where Rueben owned a shoe repair shop. Helen worked in Des Moines at Look Magazine for several years after which she worked at Methodist Hospital until her retirement.

She is survived by her only son, Bradley (Eileen) Nydegger of De Soto, IA; two grandchildren, Renee (Jeramy) Fisher of Gurnee, IL and Jeff (Sarah) Nydegger of Sandwich, IL; and four great-grandchildren, Emily and Lily Fisher, Ayden and Olivia Nydegger and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and four siblings.

Memorial contributions can be made to Middle River Hospice in Winterset.
