Obituary

John Oglesbee was born in Logan county, Ohio, September 7th, 1843, and died May 21st, 1910, aged 66 years 6 months and 14 days.

He moved with his parents to Iowa while yet a youth. In the year of 1862, when the civil war broke out, he enlisted as a private in Co. A., 39th regiment of Iowa. Serving about a year, he was disabled and came home.

On December 23d, 1866, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Kale. To this union, five children were born, Lauretta, Albertis, Luetta, Vernie and Zetta. All surviving him, except Zetta, who died in infancy. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a brother and friend to those who knew him, a kind and loving parent, and will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

At rest in the peaceful Home Land;
What sweeter words can I bring?
‘Round the sacred name of father,
A halo of light they cling.

Just over there in the Home Land,
Not very far away,
He is waiting for his loved ones,
In the realm of endless day.
